Cinnamon XL Oak Flooring

Cinnamon XL Oak flooring shares the same warm, honey-gold to amber-brown colouring as our Cinnamon Oak. It has the same straight grain and cathedral figuring too. As with any natural wood product, expect some variation from board to board, and knots that vary in size. The difference is length. This one comes in a fixed 1900mm plank rather than random lengths. That gives a more uniform, contemporary look, with fewer joins across a run. It’s part of our Timeless 18mm engineered wood range.

This board is brushed and UV oiled, giving it a natural, low-sheen finish rather than a high-gloss look. If it gets a scratch, you can usually spot-treat it with a matching oil rather than resanding the whole room. That’s a real advantage over a lacquered floor.

Cinnamon XL Oak flooring carries a Class 23 heavy domestic and Class 32 general commercial rating. That means it holds up well in busy homes and light commercial spaces. It comes with a 15-Year Residential Warranty.

Before fitting, let the boards acclimatise in the room for at least 48 hours, laid flat. Don’t leave them in a garage or anywhere freezing cold, the room needs to be at normal room temperature. And standing them upright instead can cause them to bow.

Fitting and Cutting

The subfloor needs to be as flat as possible, same as with any flooring. Engineered wood generally has a bit more give than people expect, though. For a very uneven surface, a plyboard overlay or a screed will sort it before you start.

With Cinnamon XL Oak flooring, you can float it, stick it down fully, or secret nail it. Floating it needs an underlay underneath, see our underlay range. Going full stick-down, we’d recommend Monosil P adhesive. Sticking it down on a concrete subfloor, you’ll need a liquid damp proof membrane first. On floorboards, ply the subfloor before sticking down.

Secret nailing is another option for Cinnamon XL Oak flooring. This hides the fixing inside the joint rather than on the surface. With Tongue-Tite screws, you drive a screw into each board’s tongue at roughly a 45-degree angle. Space the screws roughly every 6 inches, and they pull each board in tight against its neighbour. They’re self-piloting, so there’s no need to pre-drill. A porta-nailer does the same job a different way. It’s a striking tool, hit with a mallet to drive a nail into the tongue at roughly the same angle. Either way, the next board’s groove covers the fixing completely once it’s in place.

A chop saw, jigsaw, or hand saw will all cut these boards cleanly. So Cinnamon Oak flooring is ready to fit and finish properly, whichever method suits the job.
