The Foundation of a Successful Salon
Top Recommendation: Vinyl Click (SPC & WPC)
The professional choice for cutting and colouring zones.
For the active areas of a salon—around the chairs and backwash units—Vinyl Click is the superior choice. We offer two specialized commercial types to suit your needs: SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) and WPC (Wood Plastic Composite). Unlike real wood, which is porous, or tiles, which can be unforgiving to stand on, these sealed surfaces resist staining and provide superior performance.
- WPC for Stylist Comfort: The wood-composite core feels softer and warmer underfoot, significantly reducing leg and back fatigue for stylists standing for long shifts.
- SPC for Heavy Traffic: The rigid stone core is incredibly dense, making it the ideal choice for areas with heavy footfall or frequent movement of rolling stylist stools.
- Stain Resistant: The sealed wear layer prevents hair dye and oils from penetrating (if wiped promptly), protecting your investment.
- Commercial Warranty: Backed by up to 30 years commercial warranty for total peace of mind.
- 100% Waterproof: Essential for backwash areas and wet shaving zones.
- Hair-Repellent Surface: Static-resistant finish prevents cut hair from sticking to the floor, making sweeping effortless.
- Superior Durability: Commercial-grade wear layer withstands the rolling of stylist stools and trolley wheels.
For Reception Areas: Laminate & Wood
Creating a warm welcome.
While we recommend Vinyl for the “wet” zones, your reception and waiting area is the perfect place to introduce different textures. High-Quality Laminate or Engineered Wood can separate your retail and waiting space from the working floor, creating a dedicated “relaxation zone” for clients.
- Zoning: Use a different material to visually separate the reception from the cutting floor.
- High Impact Resistance: Laminate handles the heavy traffic of the entryway exceptionally well.
- Luxury Appeal: Engineered Wood in a waiting area signals a premium, high-end service.
Important: We generally advise against using real wood in colouring zones as ammonia and dye can permanently stain the timber grain.
Salon Design Trends
The Scandi Studio Pale, whitewashed oaks (in Vinyl Click) create a bright, airy feel that reflects light beautifully—vital for accurate colour work. It also hides light dust and cut hair well between sweeps.
The Modern Barbershop Dark grey or concrete-effect floors create a masculine, industrial aesthetic. Our Stone-effect SPC tiles give this look without the coldness or cracking risks of real concrete.
The Boutique Spa Herringbone flooring is the ultimate signifier of luxury. Using a waterproof Herringbone Vinyl allows you to have this high-end parquet look even in wet areas like pedicure stations or treatment rooms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will hair dye stain the floor? Hair dye is a powerful chemical. While our SPC Vinyl is highly resistant to staining, no floor is completely invincible if dye is left to sit for hours. We recommend wiping up colour spills immediately. The advantage of Vinyl is that the surface is sealed, so quick action usually prevents any mark.
Is the floor slippery for clients? Safety is paramount. Our commercial Vinyl ranges feature textured surfaces to provide grip (R10 rated), ensuring safety for clients walking in heels or moving around wet backwash areas.
How does it handle rolling chairs? Our Vinyl Click and Laminate floors are designed with durability in mind. However, to keep your floor looking perfect for longer, we recommend using soft-wheel casters on stylist stools or clear protective mats in the highest-wear spots.
